Aunt Arie: A Foxfire Portrait
Published in Paperback by Univ of North Carolina Pr (July, 1992)
Authors: Linda Garland Page, Eliot Wigginton, and Arie Carpenter
Average review score:

A wonderful book that will touch your heart.
From the cover:, " The students, none of whom had ever been to Aunt Arie's before, were awed, drawn inexorably into the little circle of activity that surrounded this 5' 6" dynamo who laughed and pecked on each of them and tapped their shoulders and grasped their knees and tried to remember their names and loved them, instantly, and without reservation-strangers all". This book is wonder full, and heart full, and shines a little light into a way of being that is fast becoming a just catchy phrase on a hall mark card.

Austin College: A Sesquicentennial History, 1849-1999
Published in Hardcover by Eakin Publications (July, 1999)
Authors: Light Townsend Cummins and Oscar C. Page
Average review score:

The history of Austin College is the story of the Lone Star
Chartered in 1849, only a few years after the Republic of Texas became a state, the story of Austin College is the history of the State of Texas itself.

The effects of change ... war, depression, economic boom, and social turmoil among them ... on the small Presbyterian liberal arts college, shows the state's development in microscosm.

Moreover, one story after another points to the importance of individuals who have the will to continue development in the face of adversity, from inaugural trustee General Sam Houston through the current day.

Backstage Passes: An Anthology of Rock-And-Roll Erotica
i first read this book when it came out in 1996 and i can say now 4 years later, that it is still my favorite book. It has just the right mix of imagery and descriptive language. THe book has various different erotic stories that make you tingle. When i first picked up the book i had no idea that what i was reading was pornographic, but none the less i kept on reading. and i read it over and over and over until the cover fell off. this book was well written by miss.g.

Badger Legend In His Own Time....heartwarming
I know the author personally....he's my dad. Badger was his dog, his best friend..his shadow...his heart. You never saw one without the other. If you are a dog lover, or care about animals you will love this book. Believe me, this book was written straight from the heart. You'll laugh and you'll cry but I can assure you this dog (and his owner) will leave a lasting impression on you.

Balderdash the Brilliant: A Hole-In-The-Page Color Book (Time-Life Early Learning Program)
Published in Hardcover by Time Life (July, 1991)
Authors: Time Life Inc Staff, Time-Life Books, Muff Singer, and Neil Kagan

Terciary colors for little kids
The nice thing about this book is, most other color books do primary and secondary colors, red and yellow make orange, that sort of thing. But Balderdash goes beyond that, introducing terciary colors, the colors one gets by mixing ajoining primary and secondary colors, in such a way that small children are soon making magenta, vermillion and chartruse ( a favorite in my class). I have used this book for years teaching 4 and 5 year olds how to mix colors, and it builds great vocabulary and introduces them into a world of colors beyond just the rainbow. Oh and speaking of rainbows, Balderdash also mentions long forgotten "indigo" when it mentions the rainbow.
I was an art major in college along with my education major and I know from good art books. This is one worth hunting down and picking up.

Bananas Rule!
What a nice book! There's something for everyone regarding that favorite fruit: history, biology, economics, ecology, fun facts, and even jokes and recipes! Both text and illustrations are great fun. My only quibble is with the age designation of 4-8 years. I think 4-12 would actually be more appropriate. The little ones especially love bananas, which is probably why the suggested age range, but the vocabulary is definitely for older kids. On the very first page, for example, the words intriguing, annually, extraordinary, unique, cultivated, and nutritious are used. Not quite preschool stuff! But with a parent to interpret and paraphrase, the younger set--along with the older--should certainly eat this book up!

Fabulous! This is my 19mo daughter's favorite bookset.
A friend of ours bought this adorable book set for our daughter and she absolutely loves it! Not only does she enjoy reading the books, but she loves carrying the little case around from room to room by it's little strap and fitting the books into the box and taking them out. I plan to take this set with us when we travel as it offers a nice variety of books that cover ABCs, numbers, shapes, and opposites all with colorful animals in a neat small package.

My kids love this book!
I am a book fanatic and am always buying my children (ages 2 and 4) new books but this is one that they ask me to read to them over and over again. The bright colors and fold out pages make the story fun to read from start to finish. I'm sure I'll be buying more Piggywiggy books in the near future.
